Glacier lagoon and diamond beach private tour

Icebergs in the glacier lagoon on southeast coast of Iceland.
Glacier lagoon Jokulsarlon is always beautiful, not only when the sky is clear. Oraefajokull volcano in the background.

One of the most popular places to visit in Iceland is the Glacier Lagoon Jokulsarlon together with the beach sometimes called the diamond beach by guests visiting Iceland.
Both of those places are very beautiful and great that you are doing the south coast tour at the same time, especially in summer when you can enjoy the daylight of this very long day tour. We could say that you are doing two tours in one long day tour.

Here are the places you see on the way:

1 Waterfall Seljalandsfoss. This waterfall is popular to visit because it is possible to walk behind it in summer.

2 Waterfall Skogafoss. One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.

3 Black beach Reynisfjara with the basalt stacks, caves, pebbles and much more.

4 Driving along Mt Eyjafjallajokull. This is the famous volcano that erupted in 2010 stopping all the air traffic between the US and Europe.

5 Driving along glacier Myrdalsjokull with Mt Katla beneath the ice cap.

6 Crossing the lava field Eldhraun on the way to Vatnajökull national park. Eldhraun took shape during the historic 1783-1784 eruption that cooled down the atmosphere on earth.

7 Driving along Vatnajökull ice cap, sometimes driving inside and sometimes outside Vatnajökull national park.

8 Driving along volcano Öræfajökull (Oraefajokull in English spelling) and passing the highest peak of Iceland, Hvannadalshnukur, 2110m high (6500 feet).

The glacier lagoon is on the other side of the volcano. We will be there close to 2.30-3pm. When at the glacier lagoon you will also see the beach that is sometimes called the diamond beach by people visiting Iceland since it is located close by.

Optional to join a separate ice cave tour at extra price. Please notice that the ice cave tour needs to be booked in good advance.

This is a very long day tour that is well worth doing in 2-3 days. The drive alone to Jokulsarlon takes all in all up to 6 hours one way depending on duration of very few breaks and conditions on the way. If we are doing the tour in one day then I recommend taking only very short breaks on the way.

If you want to do the tour in 3 days or more then it is possible to add a lot of stops and interesting nature on the way. Please PM for more information.
