Ice Cave On the South Coast

Enjoying the view from the glacier.
Looking out of an ice cave during a separate ice cave tour in south Iceland.

Ice caves are breathtaking. They are stunning. If you are looking for some unique experience in Iceland then a visit to an ice cave might be just the right thing for you. I am now offering an extra ice cave tour as a part of the traditional south coast tour and it is a great opportunity to see not only the glacier up close but also to go into the ice cave and see the glacier and ice cave from the inside.

This is how the tour is organized: We leave Reykjavik early in the morning heading east. We will be taking short breaks by the famous waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. We will be driving along the best known volcano in Iceland called Eyjafjallajökull which erupted in 2010 stopping all the air traffic between the US and Europe. We will also drive along ice cap Mýrdalsjökull with caldera Katla looming beneath the ice. Last but not least we will take a short break on the black beach that is considered to be one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world.

After lunch break we will be joining a separate ice cave tour with a separate glacier guide. The trip to the ice cave takes close to one hour. We have 30 minutes inside the cave to explore and take photos and then it takes the vehicle one hour to take us back. Once in Vik village we drive for 2.5 hours back to Reykjavik.

The ice cave is probably a once in a lifetime experience for you. For my tours please click here.
