The Glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón (or Jokulsarlon in English spelling) is simply stunning, I don’t think I have to say more than that. But it is more complicated. At the glacier lagoon you can see the diamond beach and you can join extra tours, e.g. a sailing tour in between the icebergs, ice cave tour – winters only (needs to be planned and book in good advance) etc. This is what the itinerary looks like:
7am Departure from Reykjavik.
9am Break for restrooms and refreshments.
9.30am Skogafoss waterfall which is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland.
10.15 Driving through the village of Vik.
11.30am Break in village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur for restrooms and lunch.
1.30-2pm Arrival to glacier lagoon Jokulsarlon. 1.5 hours break.
3.30pm Departure for Reykjavik.
6pm Dinner in Vik.
7pm Black beach Reynisfjara.
8pm Waterfall Seljalandsfoss.
9.30pm Arrival to Reykjavik.
Please notice that the drive is very, very long and breaks are very short, even lunch and dinner breaks. It is necessary to keep the breaks short to be able to make it all the way and back in one very long day. It is ideal and in many waysmuch better to do this tour in 2-3 days.
