Six Days on Private Tour in Iceland

Iceland is know for its glaciers, glacier lagoons and icebergs.
Icebergs on the diamond beach, ice cold waves of the Atlantic and the beautiful Icelandic sky. Great combination!

Spending six days touring in Iceland is easy because there are so many places to visit and magnificent nature to see. You never see the same nature, there is always something new. Here is a suggestion for a six days private tour adventure in my Ford Econoline superjeep:

Day 1 Arrival to Iceland. Short city sightseeing in Reykjavik before checking in at your hotel in Reykjavik at noon.

Day 2 Pick-up for a south coast tour seeing waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, passing volcano and glacier Eyjafjallajokull and glacier Myrdalsjokull with volcano Katla beneath the ice, black beach Reynisfjara etc. Duration up to 8 hours. Overnighting on the south coast.

Day 3 Pick-up at your hotel for a long day drive to the glacial lagoon Jökulsárlón (Jokulsarlon in English spelling). Visiting Vatnajökull (Vatnajokull in English spelling) national park along the way. Optional to join an extra ice cave tour or an extra sailing tour on the lagoon. Duration up to 10 hours. Overnighting on the southeast coast.

Day 4 Golden Circle tour with national park Þingvellir (English spelling is Thingvellir) – important both because of its viking parliament history and its geology / nature, golden waterfall Gullfoss and geothermal area Geysir with geyser Strokkur spouting hot water and steam.  Duration 6.5 hours. Overnighting in Reykjavik.

Day 5 Snaefellsnes national park long day tour. Today we are visiting and see so many different phenomena in this smallest national park in Iceland: Lava fields, craters, volcano and glacier Snaefellsjokull, blowholes, the Atlantic Ocean etc etc. Duration 10 hours. Overnighting in Reykjavik.

Day 6 Untamed Nature tour with lava fields (different from before), lakes, moon-like nature, geothermal areas completely different to the one on day 4, crossing the tectonic plates back and forth, visiting the only place in the world where the Mid-Atlantic Oceanic Ridge rises out of the sea and becomes land,  plus an optional visit to the Blue Lagoon at extra price. Drop-off at airport at the end of the tour or in Reykjavik centre.

Layers of the northern lights.
Northern lights form in stripes over Iceland.

Optional evening tour in September-mid-April is a northern lights tour, 3 hours. In winter it is also interesting to have accommodation in the countryside because then you can watch for the northern lights outside your hotel.
